Primo History

The PRIMO is a true 8-bit rarity. Developed in 1984 by SZTAKI and manufactured by an agricultural cooperative in Sárisáp, it was a bold attempt to bring home computing to Hungary. Powered by a Z80-compatible U880 processor running at 3.75 MHz, it offered a unique architecture with 256x192 monochrome graphics.

Perhaps its most iconic feature was the capacitive touch keyboard of the 'A' series, which gave the machine its distinctive look and feel. Later 'B' models adopted mechanical keys, and a 'Pro' version even added color. Sound was minimal, provided by a 1-bit speaker affectionately known in the manual as the "duda" (horn).

With only about 7,000 units ever produced, the PRIMO is a collector's gem. PrimGO faithfully emulates this hardware, from the CPU timing to the monochrome display, preserving this slice of history for a new generation.
